Regarded by many in the UFO community as the “strangest UFO case” to come out of Japan, the bizarre incident and apparent alien encounter in Sayama City in October 1978 remains full of mystery and intrigue over four decades later. Perhaps also of interest are the very similar sightings around the same time right across the globe. And while 1978 seemingly saw several small UFO waves throughout the year, several of those encounters were remarkably similar to the incident on the hilltop high above Sayama City in Japan that early-October evening. We have to ask, why was that? What was taking place around the planet in the late-1970s that might connect these waves?
