We have explored paranormal and UFO hotspots many times previously, but one aspect of UFO and paranormal encounters that is not often spoken of – at least in wider circles – is locations of high strangeness, where all manner of bizarre goings-on are regularly witnessed and documented. And these hotspots are host to everything from UFO sightings to encounters with Bigfoot and everything in between. Moreover, they just might hold the key to understanding the mechanisms and interactions of the paranormal world.

Veteran paranormal researcher Steve Mera describes these locations as playing host to a “cocktail of strange phenomena”, usually involving aspects of UFO activity, strange ghostly happenings, and cryptid creatures. Then add to this the potential existence of gateways or portals in these locations, and we can see why the term “high strangeness” is more than appropriate.

While these locations can be found all around the world, there is no doubt that some of the most bizarre and most paranormal locations of such high strangeness can be found on various ranches around the United States. And it is with some of those that we will begin our exploration of these seemingly supernatural hotspots.

Places Of High Strangeness

There are several specific locations we could highlight here, perhaps not least Skinwalker Ranch, arguably one of the strangest and one of the most paranormally active areas in the world. Indeed, we have written extensively about these encounters previously, so we won’t go over them in detail here. Needless to say, everything from UFO sightings to encounters with Bigfoot and other mysterious, cryptid creatures, and even portal-like tunnels opening up over the property have all been reported there.

Of course, much of this activity was documented by the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS), led by Robert Bigelow. They took over the ranch in the late 1990s and proceeded to undertake intense investigations into the strange goings-on there. Although much of their work (which we have explored before) detailed many strange goings-on at the ranch and incidents from right across the paranormal spectrum, there was a sense that much of that data was held back.

As we might imagine, there have been many theories as to what these accounts might be, as well as the reasons that some documents and research findings were left out in the years since. Some of these theories suggested that some of the findings of this research caught the attention of the United States military, while others stated that various members of the NIDS investigation team began to experience strange goings-on away from the ranch, as if something had followed them from the ranch and into their everyday lives.

The Similar Anomalies Of Blind Frog Ranch

There are many other ranches in the United States that are also home to all manner of high strangeness, with one of the most intense being close to Skinwalker Ranch – Blind Frog Ranch. Almost all of the bizarre happenings that you might experience at Skinwalker Ranch, you are almost certain to experience at Blind Frog Ranch. Indeed, the land between the respective ranches’ boundaries is also home to many strange goings-on.

The ranch itself is just outside Vernal (also in Utah) and is another location that has multiple local legends attached to it and, like the land around Skinwalker Ranch, many Native American tribes believe the land to be cursed. Even more intriguing, there appears to be many tunnel networks under the ground that, at least according to some researchers, could offer further proof of an ancient civilization once residing on the land many thousands of years ago, certainly a lot earlier than mainstream historians generally accept that advanced civilizations existed on what is today the North American continent.

Much of the activity documented on Blind Frog Ranch is almost identical to the strange goings-on at its more famous neighbor, including sightings of cryptids and Bigfoot creatures, mutilated and disappearing cattle, as well as many UFO sightings. In fact, some people have even dubbed Blind Frog Ranch “the new Area 51!”

Perhaps a good indication that the same intelligence could be behind all of these strange events is tales of glowing orbs often seen “dancing” above the land of the ranch, with some accounts stating these orbs would attempt to lead people into the forest. One particular account tells of a group of hikers who were making their way through the woodland near the ranch when they came upon a bizarre, glowing, metallic sphere in a clearing in the forest. They recalled that the sphere was around the size of a basketball and appeared to emit a bizarre “low humming” sound. After several moments, each of the hikers began to sense sudden feelings of fear and even terror, as well as physical discomfort throughout their bodies. After a moment or two, the group turned and ran, leaving the clearing and the sphere as quickly as they could.

“Thinning The Veil!”

We might ask, then, what might the reasons be for the trifecta of bizarre occurrences at these truly strange locations? If we turn our attention to another place of high strangeness, Rocky Mountain Ranch (sometimes referred to as Clearview Ranch) in Colorado, we can perhaps begin to understand some of the reasons for these ultra-paranormal locations. One person who knows this location more than most is the CEO of Rocky Mountain Ranch Research, Katie Paige. She stated recently that Rocky Mountain Ranch, in the same way as approximately 90 percent of other areas of high strangeness, is ”highly magnetic” and as such leads to many magnetic anomalies.

She elaborated further that it wasn’t only the ranch itself that experienced these strange goings-on but that residents of many of the communities around the ranch also encountered strange incidents and witnessed bizarre occurrences. Katie elaborated that she had personally spoken to over 250 people who experienced strange happenings, adding there were likely many more who didn’t wish to speak about their experiences.

It would appear that magnetic anomalies in the region could “thin the veil” between our realm of existence and the one where these strange entities seemingly reside, and so allowing those in these regions to interact with these otherworldly (or perhaps interdimensional) entities more frequently than in other areas. Or perhaps, as Katie Paige pondered, it is the magnetic anomalies that “attracts this phenomenon” and so making them paranormal hotspots.

Katie Paige has also noted many other consistencies between these different locations of high strangeness. Perhaps one of the most intriguing of these is the several circular indentations on the grounds that always measure exactly 75 feet in diameter, with Paige noting the work of Dr. Pearson, who declared that following encounters with spherical craft, these indentations measuring 75 feet were a “commonality case after case!”

The Trifecta Of The Bizarre!

As we mentioned earlier, what connects these strange locations more than anything else is the apparent trifecta of the bizarre – ultimately, UFO sightings and encounters, ghostly events, and sightings of cryptid creatures, including, but not limited to, Bigfoot-like entities. Regardless of how the present themselves, in what order and in what ratio, in places of high strangeness we always find this trifecta.

Another signal that there is some kind of intelligence behind all of these bizarre phenomena is many bizarre encounters involving the weather. For example, in areas where many people disappear (usually national parks or forests), the weather seemingly takes a bizarre turn for the worse, hampering any search efforts. This is often the case for close encounters with UFOs, almost as if someone, or something, is controlling the weather for their own ends.

This strange phenomenon is something also witnessed by the previously mentioned Katie Paige. She stated recently that while filming the television show Beyond Skinwalker Ranch, when she and the television crew were on Rocky Mountain Ranch in order to meet (and film) her meeting with the new owners, a sudden “unexpected blizzard came through” and made any such activity impossible.

Katie also documented a similar encounter that occurred during her investigation into the mutilation of Snippy the Horse from the late 1960s. During a prearranged meeting at the site of the mutilation – where her crew planned to get several aerial shots of the area – “unexpected rain, snow, and freezing cold wind” made it impossible for them to complete their planned work. Were these just coincidences? Or is it possible that some kind of higher power – whatever it might be and wherever it might come from – was somehow, and for reasons unknown, orchestrated events to frustrate research?

Another Concentration Of The Bizarre – The Four Corners

One thing that connects each of the ranches we have explored here is that their respective states are part of the rather infamous Four Corners region of the United States – where the states of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico meet. And, as we might imagine, the paranormal activity here is particularly rife and regular.

The region has a long history of such bizarre goings on, with many of the Native American tribes who are indigenous to the region claiming the land to be cursed (much the same as the claims of the land that Skinwalker Ranch and Blind Frog Ranch reside on).

Even more noteworthy, in recent years, NASA has taken an active interest in the region, with the official reason being to investigate unusually high levels of methane in the region. As we might imagine, though, there are many who question this narrative, suggesting that the organization has ulterior motives for being in the area. And given the incidents of high strangeness in the Four Corners region, as well as the interest discreet military and intelligence agencies have taken in other locations around the Four Corners region, it perhaps should not be that much of a surprise that they might take an interest in the Four Corners themselves, and more specifically, the strange events that take place there.

Anomalous Areas Around The World

It is also worth mentioning several other locations of high strangeness around the world. Perhaps the most well-known, if many people don’t realize it, is the Bermuda Triangle, a stretch of water of the Atlantic Ocean that resides between the three points of Bermuda, Miami, and San Juan, in Puerto Rico. Not only have numerous boats and aircraft simply disappeared as if into thin air within this region, but some pilots and crew of vessels have experienced bizarre time slips and apparent cases of transportation. There have also, incidentally, been numerous UFO reports over this part of the Atlantic Ocean, with Miami and Puerto Rico also being UFO hotspots.

Undoubtedly another location of high strangeness is also well-known: Stonehenge in Salisbury, England, which not only has very mysterious origins, but a whole host of paranormal encounters on record from the second half of the twentieth century onwards alone. We have documented before, for example, the strange military exercises that took place around the ancient monument in the 1950s that resulted in plasma-like orbs manifesting above the stones. There are also, albeit more urban legends, of people who have ventured to the stones and have seemingly vanished into thin air, with one particular legend telling of a group of hikers who were seemingly transported to another realm after a strike of lightning hit one of the stones and seemingly opened some kind of portal.

There are many other locations around the world that are equally as strange that are perhaps not as well-known. The Hoia-Baciu Forest in Romania, for example, is known for many strange occurrences, even referred to by some people as the “most haunted forest in the world!” Not only have there been many UFO reports from the region, but several people have disappeared seemingly into nowhere. Moreover, like many of the ranches we explored, many people have reported seeing strange, glowing orbs moving around the trees. Looking much further afield, it is worth mentioning the Bhangarh Fort in India, said to be one of the most haunted and paranormally active locations in India. Not only are all manner of strange apparitions and entities reported here, but local legends claim that a curse was placed on the location, which still reaches out to those who venture there today.

These are just a mere handful of other locations around the planet we could highlight. Indeed, an entire manuscript could be compiled if we were to explore each and every one of these strange locations. And if we did do so, we would almost certainly find that the vast majority of these locations sit within areas that also have geological magnetic anomalies.

A Need To Step Outside Of Rigid Belief Systems

Of course, in all of this, there is one more thing to consider: these areas of high strangeness are only part of the equation in understanding the paranormal. It could well be that our own consciousness, or perhaps more accurately, our subconscious selves, construct the reality merely by observing it. Indeed, many quantum physicists are working on such theories as physical things not existing until they are observed.

Could it be that our collective subconscious minds somehow create our collective reality, so that it is both unique to each of us and shared across society at the same time? And, taking this a stage further, could it be that these areas of high strangeness make these interactions more intense – as Katie Paige said, these areas assist in “thinning the veil!” We might also highlight the thoughts of David Price, who wrote that these bizarre events “aren’t mere anomalies, but potential windows into a deeper understanding of existence!” [1]

In fact, David Price makes some interesting statements about the “current scientific establishment”, but he could very well be making about some sections of independent or alternative research, in various fields of interest, when he states that they “often behave more like a rigid belief system than a genuine pursuit of knowledge. (They) dismiss experiences that don’t fit neatly into established models” and, essentially, suppress and even mock such research that goes against their own personal dogma. Indeed, if one thing is certain, it is that there is still much to learn on a collective level.

The Importance Of Understanding High Strangeness!

Ultimately, understanding these truly strange locations could very well be the key to understanding not only the paranormal world as one phenomenon, but also in understanding the nature of our collective reality. The fact is, we just might discover that we – humanity and everything around us – are not simply the result of some happy accident, but that something has very much orchestrated, or at the very least, influenced the reality around us. Indeed, we might contemplate whether it is from this potential higher power that notions of “god” or “the gods” come.

With these last thoughts in mind, we might also ask if these locations of modern high strangeness were significant locations in antiquity, something else that could not only tell us about the mysteries of our contemporary era but also of the enigmas of the past. We just might also begin to see the dots that not only connect different fields of interest in the paranormal world, but also between different points in time, helping to fill in just some of the many blanks that plague our collective recollections of our past.

There is much for us to think about, not least for us to study, research, and investigate. One thing that is apparent is that understanding the nature of our reality, our past, and our purpose is such a huge subject that it will take a true collective effort to get to the real truth of the matter. The story is still unfolding.

The video below features myself and Steve Mera speaking with researcher and CEO of Rocky Mountain Ranch Research, Katie Paige, about these locations and the truly unsettling activity that takes place there.

Expert Opinion

Many claims revolve around remote ranches brimming with UFO sightings, cryptid reports, and odd gateway-like phenomena. Investigators highlight an intriguing “cocktail of strange occurrences” that allegedly ties to magnetic anomalies, possible swirling orbs, and sightings of unidentifiable creatures. Proponents believe these zones are unique environments where the boundaries of reality are thinner, allowing multiple supernatural events to converge.

However, skeptics argue that anecdotal trappings, cultural lore, and the unpredictability of eyewitness reports hamper a solid conclusion. While NASA’s interest in the Four Corners region sparks questions about hidden motives, scientific inquiries thus far remain inconclusive. That intriguing combination of observational data, folklore, and partial disclosure fuels a whirlwind of theories—but does not firmly confirm or totally dismiss the presence of something extraordinary.

Verdict: Inconclusive
While many eyewitness accounts and measured anomalies raise eyebrows, the lack of transparent, peer-reviewed findings leaves the ultimate explanation unresolved.
