Over the years, stories about how we’ve engaged with other species have been common. From the Annunaki to various stories about Nordics from space that people speak to on a regular basis, we’ve heard just about every kind of alien story possible. Others even have us being run by lizard people!
However, one story that has been spoken about at length was the supposed stopping of a nuclear missile launch during the Cold War era. As the Soviet and US relations reached an all-time low, it looked like the world could be heading for the kind of war that it could never come back from.
However, according to various videos, sources and speculation over the years this was stopped not by high level diplomacy and good old common sense, but by an alien species. We’ve no doubt all seen the YouTube videos of the event not taking place – but is that really a verifiable source?
Until recently, this was taken with the biggest pinch of salt. Whilst it would be nice to believe this happened, the lack of proof made it more hopeful than authentic.
That was, of course, until Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell spoke out. Mitchell, who sadly passed away on February 4th 2016 aged 85, spoke in August 2015 about his belief that a “third party” saved us from obliterating ourselves in nuclear war. Out of all of the experts and names out there, Mitchell is one of the most senior and trusted named to put weight behind this theory.
Speaking to the Huffington Post in the UK, Mitchell said that White Sands was a testing ground for atomic weapons — and that’s what the extra-terrestrials were interested in. They wanted to know about our military capabilities. My own experience talking to people has made it clear the ETs had been attempting to keep us from going to war and help create peace on Earth …”
So, is there any truth to this? Is that Mitchell says got any real weight behind it? Or is it a parting shot from an expert who just wanted to throw a little grenade into the discussion? Let’s take a look at all of the information out there to help us discern whether or not this could have any viability to it.
Whilst understanding these things is usually a bit of a challenge, we’ll try and break it down as logically as we possibly can using all the information collated. Don’t just believe us, though; check out all of the information provided to see where you stand!
The Background of Edgar Mitchell
Mitchell himself is a name of some repute when it comes to the world of other species and even when it comes to conspiracies. After all, he worked with NASA on the Apollo 14 mission; he was just the sixth man to walk on the moon.
Mitchell was born on September 17th, 1930 in Hereford, Texas. From there, he moved during the Depression era to Artesia, New Mexico, with his ranching family.
He graduated from Artesia High in 1948 and then went on to receive a BoS in Industrial Management from the Carnegie Institute of Tech in 1952. Following stints in the US Navy, Mitchell went through a BoS in Aeronautical Engineering and a DoS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Tech. by 1964, he was a hugely experienced and well-trained expert.
However, his development and growth was nowhere near done yet! Eventually, he spent time working with aviation as he worked as an Ensign at Rhode Island. Finishing his flight training in the mid-1950s, he went to accumulate more than 5,000 hours of flight time.
It was this experience and development that helped Mitchell become so famous when he finally joined up with NASA. Selected to be an astronaut in 1966, he left the Navy to go to NASA and was designed as a backup Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 10. He then served as the LM Pilot for Apollo 14, landing on the Lunar Model known as “Antares” in Fra Mauro. Together with Alan Shepard, they launched lunar experiments on the surface with almost 100 pounds worth of lunar samples picked up to be taken back to earth.
As part of Apollo 14, he was engaged in some very important feats; they became the first team to use a Mobile Equipment Transporter, and also had the longest distance traversed on foot in the Lunar Surface. Amongst other feats, Mitchell logged over 200 hours of time in space, and was specifically designated to serve as backups for Apollo 16.
In 1972, he eventually retired from his work with NASA. Eventually, he was given a Presidential Medal of Freedom by then President, Richard Nixon.
It was his immense capacity as a leader and an intelligent man that led to his promotion to his position within NASA as well as his ability to take command when needed. However, Mitchell also had a bit of a different streak to him – for one, his views on the “outer world” were a little bit different to what we were used to hearing!
Also, he had various run-ins with the government after his time with NASA. For example, he was found to be selling a camera used on Apollo 14 in an auction, which the US Government was not particularly happy about. Bonhams, the auctioneer, removed it from their listing and this caused a bit of friction. This led to the enactment of HR 4158 by Congress, meaning that all Apollo, Mercury and Gemini space mission’s property was now fully and officially the governments.
This unique streak and this rather interesting way of moving beyond the government obvious sparked a bit of interest in his personality and his life outside of the NASA missions. Given his love for rather unique interests – paranormal activity for one – Mitchell soon become a rather significant voice for conspiracy theorists and those who wanted to believe in something other than what we were being told.
One of the most interesting parts of the mind-set of Mitchell, though, was his open minded approach to the “other” world. For example, he was open minded and quite positive about the possibility of things like remote healing. Indeed, Mitchell claimed that he worked with someone from Vancouver, a remote healer only known as Adam Dreamhealer. Suffering from alleged kidney cancer, he worked with the remote healer and had the entire illness removed from his body between December 03-June 04.
Having gone through a sonogram and an MRI, it was discovered that many of his issues were consistent with the existence of the cancer. However, the “irregularity” was gone, and “we haven’t seen it since” according to Mitchell prior to his death. It was this open minded approach to the rest of the world that not only got considerable attention in the direction of Mitchell, but made his opinion seem a bit more trustworthy. Whilst other astronauts stuck to the given script, Mitchell had no problem putting forward his own version of what he believed was occurring around us at all times.
Indeed, his opinions on things like governance were equally interesting. As an early and prominent supporter of a United National Parliamentary Assembly – more or less a world government – he was a prominent figure for promoting this global ideal. This tallies well with his more unique outlook on the world as a whole, and fits in perfectly with his belief in other species.
It’s his commitment and desire to see change that has made him such a well-known critic of the modern world – before his untimely passing, many of his views were seen by supporters of alternative theories as solid proof that we aren’t quite being told everything we could/should be.
Mitchell and UFOs
One of the most striking parts of his post-NASA life, though, has been a proper love and commitment to letting the world know what he thinks is really out there. Mitchell has publically expressed his belief in aliens and other lifeforms many times, stating that he was “90 percent sure that many of the thousands of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, recorded since the 1940s, belong to visitors from other planets” .
Indeed, he even stated on an April 1996 interview on Dateline NBC that he had spoken with “officials from three countries” who had claimed to have had personal experiences themselves with other lifeforms. It was this open and brutally honest approach to discussing aliens and other lifeforms that quickly endeared the name of Mitchell to those involved with the discovery and learning of UFOs.
More interestingly, though, was his approach that there was plenty of cover-ups going on? He even claimed that the US Government had been provided with sonic engineering secrets that had been used to further the nation technologically.
As you can see, Mitchell wasn’t one for sticking to the party line!
Indeed, he even wrote a book on this called “The Way of the Explorer” which looked deeper into how he discovered so much information about space and the potential wonders that await us out there. If you wish to know more about his personal background, we would recommend getting a copy of his book from somewhere.
However, the history of Mitchell and UFOs is very much different to what people may expect.
In 2004, he claimed that the US was at one stage getting plenty of assistance from alien lifeforms. However, he also stated when talking to the St. Petersburg Times that a team of insiders within the US Government were involved in studying the bodies of recovered aliens, and that these specific groups stopped providing updates and information to any US President after John F Kennedy was assassinated. Does it all sound a bit crazy now? You bet.
It’s this chilling insinuation that there is plenty of work going on in the background, and even the President of the United States does not have a clue what is going on. Critics may suggest that if the POTUS does not know, then how can some Astronaut?
Well, take a listen to his interview with Nick Margerrison on Kerrang Radio, July 2008. He mentions that it was his belief that Roswell was not only real, but that we have had semi-regular contact with aliens ever since and that governments have spent as long as six decades lying to us and covering this up. He states that
“I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we’ve been visited on this planet, and the UFO phenomenon is real.”
Whilst NASA released a typical statement rejecting it and claiming that they do not “share his opinions” on the issue, Mitchell has been pretty solid from day one about his beliefs. In 2008, he released a “counter assault” on the NASA statement when talking with Fox News in the same month.
He stated that whilst his comments did not particularly involve those at NASA, he quoted now-deceased sources who were at Roswell. He says that they informed him that Roswell did in fact occur, and that an alien aircraft was witnessed. He also claims to have confirmation from the Pentagon via an unconfirmed source. Whilst people might be frustrated at the cryptic nature of what he states and says, simply coming out and naming sources would only do three things;
- Give him a legal challenge to face off against that he would probably have lost.
- Handle statements from these people completely decrying his views/statements.
- Limit his credibility and the scope that he could take through.
It’s hard to give statements on cover-ups because nobody is ever likely to just side with the person making the accusations. Come 2014, though, he claimed in an interview with AskMen that he had never been threatened and that this was “only speculation” on his part.
That might sound like him backtracking, but can you really blame him?
Mitchell – A Proper Whistle-blower?
His main whistle blowing, though, comes from the fact that he has spoken quite so clearly – on the run-up to his passing – which UFOs provided us with the kind of help and intervention many of us hope is true. He stated that it was aliens who stopped us from entering a period of immediate nuclear wear during the Cold War era, which would have most certainly led to the beginning of a Third World War.
Mitchell made the sensational claim that we were being protected as aliens wished to know more about our military capabilities and they wanted to more or less see where humanity was headed as a species. However, the main issue for denying all of this comes from the fact that a similar UFO incident allegedly occurred at Rendlesham Forest in the 1980s.
During his famous interview with the Huffington Post, he stated that “My own experience talking to people has made it clear the ETs had been attempting to keep us from going to war and help create peace on Earth.”
Does that not make you feel a whole lot safer?
His opinions are backed up further by those of Col. Charles Halt. Halt was the Commander at the US base stationed there, and has been a vocal opinion on the UFO sightings that seemingly occurred here. The Colonel spoke up in recent times, saying that he had seen written statements from retired Radar operators who confirmed they could see something above them.
When speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk, Halt stated that radar operators “saw the object go across their 60 mile (96km) scope in two or three seconds, thousands of miles an hour, he came back across their scope again, stopped near the water tower, they watched it and observed it go into the forest where we were.”
Many speculate that it was the insistence of people like Mitchell that has had Halt and others like him step forward to help shine some light on this issue. In the same interview with the Post, Mitchell claims that the experiences of Halt are not exactly unique, and many others have gone through the same process in the past.
He said that officers from bases from the Pacific regularly witnessed their test missiles being shot down.
To help put your mind at ease, Miller and Halt are not alone. They are backed up by the former Canadian defense minister, Paul Hellyer. Hellyer has long been a supporter of disclosure and he also claims in a Huffington Post interview that it’s part of a worldwide conspiracy to keep people in the dark about what is really going on.
Robert Hastings, a long-time researcher and a well-known expert on the matter, has also corroborated this story in the past. He said that “this planet is being visited by being from another world who for whatever reason have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race”. With allegedly 120+ testimonies alongside him, including the testimony of Captain Robert Salas who was involved in a missile disruption incident in Montana, 1967, Hastings believes he has all the information needed to prove this theory.
We would suggest that looking at the people who corroborate this story, it’s quite likely that they at least are onto something. We aren’t likely to get any confirmation from the government or NASA anytime soon, but when people with the authority and experience as Helt, Hellyer, Mitchell – and others – come to the fore, it’s a little easier to listen to the claims with a sense of realism.
It might sound nuts to us, but the people discussing this here aren’t just YouTube celebrities; they are people who were part of the system. That makes it a bit more believable, in our eyes! We aren’t 100% what to believe ourselves but one thing is for sure; there is rarely this much smoke without any fire!
